Hey,

Here's my story.

Manama, Bahrain, 1993. I was born to a progressive mixed-race family in the Middle East before growing up in Dubai, UAE. I studied art at the Dubai Community Theatre and Arts Centre, mentored by fine artist Maria Peat. I left school with some of the highest grades for my art before moving to the UK at age 17 to continue my studies, including Fine Arts and Graphic Communications, at the International School of Creative Arts in Berkshire. I was awarded Valedictorian status at this prestigious institution upon my college graduation.

I spent the next three years studying art for video game design during my bachelor's degree at London South Bank University, graduating with a BA with Honors in Games Cultures. I worked temporarily with companies such as Bethesda and Ubisoft during that time. I concluded my studies with a Master's Degree in games development at Birmingham City University before being granted Graduate Entrepreneur status from my university and the UK government for the Nirvana project I had created with my long-term business partner.

I worked with my partner throughout this visa to create a micro-indie game development company, working on a mobile game: Nirvana. The game grew a significant following quickly and was exhibited at the UK's largest gaming festival; Insomnia, at the NEC, in Birmingham, where families, teens, and even youtube influencers would relax on our bean bags, take the weight off their feet and sink into the meditative feeling that was created by our rhythm-puzzle gameplay.

In 2019, I moved to the USA, where I began work at a humble design agency in Washington State called Blind Renaissance, working with some great and interesting local clients who were looking to expand their businesses, including wineries and schools, even winning the Gold Summit Creative award in non-profit website design, for the WTFRC website project. Part-way through the pandemic, I moved to work with NCW Tech Alliance (formerly GWATA), a non-profit that drives resources to support STEM opportunities for students, educators, and communities, as their Creative & Brand Manager.

With my contract at NCW Tech at its' end, I am looking forward to starting the next chapter of this story; I feel it is just getting to the best part.

I'm Farah.Design
